Chris and the Gutterman team were very professional took the time to listen to my concerns as a homeowner and answer all questions I had. My job was quite large and involved insurance company which can always make things more complicated. Gutterman assisted in working with the insurance company ensuring that all proper items were reimbursed. Chris also took a good deal of his time to suggest how he would approach fix's as if it were his own home, not always suggesting the solution that would bring Gutterman the most money. The house looks great and I am happy the price and results, would recommend to family and friends.

WOW! I can’t believe a roofing contractor this good, this honest, this careful, this courteous, this professional, this experienced—not to mention, this reasonable—actually exists. But Gutterman Services of Sterling, VA, does, and if you need a new roof, you owe it to yourself to contact them. The turret roof on my Capitol Hill house was leaking badly, and Gutterman came to the rescue.

The details: roofing bandits had persuaded an elderly previous owner to replace the original (and exceptionally durable) slate tiles on the turret roof with short-lived asphalt shingles—which were now rapidly disintegrating. I wanted to stop the leaks and restore the roof to its original historic condition as required by DC Historic District guidelines.

Enter Harold Boosahda, Gutterman’s superb sales technician. He told me he could put new 150-year-lifespan slate tiles from the Buckingham quarry in Arvonia, VA (“Highest quality slate on Earth”) on my roof for a far more reasonable price than what other contractors I contacted were asking for far less durable synthetic materials. Even better: Gutterman stood by its work, offering me a 10-year workmanship warranty. I was impressed. Of the dozens of area roofers tracked by Consumers’ Checkbook, I couldn’t find another one with a 10-year warranty. The best other roofers offered me was 3 years—some only 1-year. And the contract: clear, fixed, clean, tight, and easy to understand. I appreciated this. So, I signed, and the project began.

Enter Tony Riggs, Gutterman’s gifted slate roof expert. Leading a crew of consummate craftsmen, he replaced the disintegrating asphalt shingles, installed new Buckingham slate tiles of the type believed to have been used in 1896 on my Victorian-era turret roof and, most importantly, stopped the leaks! And that’s not all: he and his team did a marvelous job of restoring the roof. The slate looks terrific—perfect pattern, fit, overlap, and alignment, and the copper ridge caps beautifully accent and outline the rich blue-black handmade slate. What’s more, Tony—a true and talented artist—restored and reattached the finial ornament to the turret top in a manner that preserved its robust and authentic three-dimensional attitude.

And, yes, at the end, neighbors commented not only on how beautiful they found the new roof but how thoroughly Tony’s team had hauled away debris and cleaned up the surrounding area.

Gutterman was excellent. We have a mid century house and wanted box gutters- hard to find companies that will fabricate those for residential projects. Jorge came to our house, took measurements, and discussed a plan with us. They coordinated with our painters so we could get that done at the same time. Amilcar and Luis were accommodating and their craftsmanship was excellent. They even had some extra material which they used to extend our downspout further away from the house in our backyard at no extra cost. Highly recommend.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your firm your recent replacement of my roofing and guttering systems of my recently acquired home in Leesburg Va. From our first communication until the completion of the project, the service was tremendous. Your personal attention, while certainly not expected, was appreciated. But the rest of your team also communicated in a first-class way. Several pre-construction visits to plan out the project showed a proactive and well-organized process. The crews that came out to perform the work, were polite, respectful, and courteous. The crews did a terrific job of respecting and protecting my property as well as the properties on my neighbors on either side of me. The workmanship was superb. There was attention to detail and the crews seemed to work very safely as well. There was constant clean up and maintenance of the property / front and back yards. As a seasoned / experienced General Contractor, I believe the prices for the project was very fair and I got tremendous value out of this project.

As operator of 2 large Commercial General Contracting firms over the last 28 years. I have worked with thousands of Subcontractors over my career. I know good subs, and believe me, I have known many Bad subs. I would venture to guess that over the last 20 years Gutterman Services Inc has done work on 5-6 of my homes, and probably at least a half dozen commercial projects that I have overseen. The description from above has applied to all the projects we have done together. They are ethical, communicative, hardworking, and deliver an elite final product. And they are all just good people. For anyone who may read this letter, I would say that if you have roofing, gutters, siding, windows needs, I highly recommend you call Gutterman Services Inc.

I had a complicated gutter replacement project on an old stone house. The project required precise placement of the gutter under a steep and uneven metal roof to avoid being torn away by sliding snow (as happened with the prior gutter). I explained this to the salesman, and we agreed to a plan. When the install crew arrived, they placed the first length of gutter too high and too far out from the drip line. There had obviously been an error in conveying the install pans, and I got concerned. I called the main office, and they jumped on the problem. They sent a supervisor out immediately to talk to me and understand the problem. He talked the crew through the install plan. The original length was repositioned and the rest of the gutters were installed just where they needed to be. Great customer service and great “ownership” of the problem. All got done properly, on time and at the agreed price, despite the need to devote additional labor to the job to reposition the first length. I am very pleased and highly recommend.

I had a great experience with Gutterman Services. Charles and John were incredible and went over and beyond to help my roommate and I resolve a situation with my roof. They initially came and did a thorough and quick repair on a hole in the roof. There had been water damage that was significant in the attic, as well as raccoons that had come in through the hole. They returned the following day to repair another section of the roof where it was suspected that the raccoons may have been entering from as well. I was worried that the raccoons were still up there and trapped in, and pest control did next to nothing to resolve the situation. Charles and John made sure one of the roof holes was open and then climbed into the attic to scare the raccoons out before repairing the hole. The adult raccoon was not in there and had likely gotten out of the smaller hole the night before. In the midst of making sure there were no raccoons, they found a nest of five baby raccoons, and helped me safely get them out of the attic. The raccoons were brought to a wildlife refuge, and would not have survived had it not been for Charles and John going over and beyond to find them and save them. Their help, amazing positive personalities and professional expertise were incredible!! I'll be recommending their services to anyone who is need of roof and/or gutter services.
